Year 6 Bin Bag Fashion Show
Year 6 Bristol Trip
The final Year Six trip for 2008-2009 was a huge success! 6H were taken on a boat trip around the famous harbour, whilst 6H gasped at the amazing images produced by the camera obscura on Clifton Down.
Dodecahedrons!
Some of the Year Six girls worked with members of Year Two to produce dodecahedrons from scratch. There was some tricky calculation of angles - and some delicate manipulation of compasses - but the end products were superb!
French Shops
There was a real French ambience at the exhibition of French shops made by girls in Year 5. A few of these beautifully made shops will be on display at Gatineau, the pâtisserie in Summertown, over the summer.
Greek Lunch - Year 4
"Before the Greek lunch, everyone was getting changed into their costumes and it was really strange because everyone looked very different in Greek costumes."
Year 6 French Plays
Pupils and parents were entertained to an early morning French performance by girls in Year 6.

Year 4 went to Sutton Courtenay Field Study Centre to investigate minibeasts in the meadow, the woodlands and in the pond.
Dr Packer's Microbiology Workshop
"Dr Packer inspired Year 5 with her brilliant talk on microbiology. She produced fun but meaningful experiments."
Year 3 walk in Stow Wood
Year 3 returned to Stow Wood - they compared the Autumn and Spring in the wood. They also were learning to identify some of the wildflowers.
Year 5 Production
On the 18th June, Year 5 performed "Joseph and the Amazing Technicolour Dreamcoat" by Andrew Lloyd Webber. We think our pictures say it all...
Year 3 visit Pitt Rivers Museum
As part of their topic on Ancient Egypt, Year 3 went to the Pitt Rivers Museum to look at artefacts including a mummified priestess! Here are some pictures and comments from our visit.
Year 2 Production - The Lighthouse Keepers Lunch
'We performed a marvellous play today to the school and will perform on the 26th June 2009 to our parents. It is called the Lighthouse Keepers Lunch.'
Training Orchestra Final Assembly of the Year
The Training Orchestra performed their final assembly of the year to an audience of parents and children. They have all worked very hard this year and the standard of achievement was excellent.

The Junior School Morris Dancers
The Junior School morris dancers, from year 6, performed at this year's school fete. A superb and professional display of traditional dances, from local villages, were enjoyed by visiting parents and friends.

The Chamber Choir were invited to sing to the Senior School in assembly on Wednesday 23rd June. They performed a selection of items from their recent Summer Concert.

Café Chic
Elegantly dressed in the colours of the French flag, Year 4 girls enjoyed a memorable French experience. They ordered their breakfast confidently at Café Chic and obviously enjoyed it.
Art and Design Technology Exhibition
Year 2 visit Banbury Museum
When we got to Banbury Museum the first thing we did was go on a barge called The Dancing Duck. It had a galley and a seated area.
Stewart Ross visits the Junior School
On Thursday 18th June, Stewart Ross, a local children's author visited our school to show us a presentation about the moon and sign copies of his new book 'Moon'.
Year 4 visit to the synagogue in Oxford
The gates were decorated with a giant Star of David, and the doors were engraved all over in Hebrew. There are no statues or pictures inside the synagogue.
Year 2 University Parks
Year 2 visited University Parks on Friday 22nd May. Studying the river and pond, as part of their topic on water, as well as finding out more about the trees and plants in the environment made this trip both educational and enjoyable.
Year 6 - PGL 2009
Every day is jam-packed with fun. At least two activities, then lunch, another two activities, then evening entertainment, a film, then into bed!
May Dancing Celebrations
Parents, staff and children from Year 1 to 6, were treated to a display of traditional May Dancing including a Ribbon Dance, Morris Dancing and of course the May Pole.
Year 5 visit the Oxford Museum
Year 5's project 'Oxford and the Civil War', took them the Oxford Museum. They attended a workshop and enjoyed looking at and handling the artefacts on display. They were asked to write an advertisement about their visit.
Design Technology Workshop
Year 5 took part in a Design Technology workshop which looked at structures. Structures are this term's DT project.
Dreamflight Charity
THANK YOU to all pupils and staff who wore their pyjamas to school on Friday 8th May in aid of Dreamflight. A magnificent £636.34 was raised.
Science Week
Year 3 was treated to a demonstration about 'hot and cold'. Deepa showed them dry ice which they used the dry ice to inflate balloons. Then they used liquid nitrogen to freeze balloons. Finally they made ice-cream!
Year 6 visited the Design Museum and Tate Modern on Wednesday 11th March
We saw the Design Awards for 2009 and an exciting fashion exhibition which included some remote controlled clothes - one model's clothes disappeared into her hat!
Year 3 visit the Botanic Garden
Year 3 has been studying 'hot and cold' deserts. They visited the cactus house in the Botanic Garden.

The roamer is so clever - how does it move on its own? It's fun to see if we are correct when guessing where it will land.

Our visit from the Fire Fighters was amazing. They came to visit in a fire engine which we had the chance to explore.

We loved looking in Mrs Warren's car - we turned the windscreen wipers and lights on and even tooted the horn.

As part of our topic on 'People Who Help Us', this term the Nursery ventured out to visit Summertown Library.

Castle Battles
An assembly was presented by 2S as part of their castle project, telling the school about how to attack and defend a castle.
Training Orchestra
The Training Orchestra performed their regular termly Assembly in front of an audience of children and parents.
Modern Dance At the Junior School
Foot tapping, hand clapping, a fun and entertaining assembly was presented by Miss Ford and her pupils of modern dance.
Easter Egg Competition
The school library at Bardwell Road, holds an Easter Egg Competition every year for Years 2 to 6.

Netball At The Junior School
Congratulations to the ten Year 6 girls at the Under 11 Trust Netball Rally at Wimbledon High School last Thursday.
Year 4 Performance
The Year 4 production of Cinders was a success. The play involved quite a lot of songs, some of which were sang as solos and duets ... Matilda.
National Children's Orchestra - Leverhulme Trust Scholarship
Amy Muellbauer has been selected as one of the 20 National Children's Orchestra - Leverhulme Trust Scholars for 2009, in five orchestras comprising the NCO.
World Book Day

Carlos and Freddy, two members of South American group "Caliche" ran workshops in the morning with Year 5 and 6.
Year 4 - CBSO Visit
Year 4 girls travelled to see the City of Birmingham Symphony Orchestra perform Dvorak's "New World" Symphony at the children's concert.
Year 6 - Beowulf Assembly
After their visit to the British Library Year 6 girls acted out the story of Beowulf through contemporary dance sequences.

Year One visits Hill End
The Year One children enjoyed two afternoons at Hill End Field Studies Centre. As part of their topic on 'Senses' they went into a specially designed garden where they could explore the senses in a natural environment.

Wash Day in Reception
Reception's First Visit to Hill End
The Reception children eagerly anticipated their first visit to Hill End. Kitted out in wellington boots and warm clothes they were ready to board the coach.
Printing with Sponges
In the Nursery the children are encouraged to have a positive attitude to new experiences. Here the children are painting with sponges on their feet.
Playground Transformed.....
The children at the Woodstock Road site have enjoyed exploring the new playground facilities set amongst the stunning new plants. As one child commented, 'It's just like the Botanic Gardens!'
Humph the Camel
The Nursery performed the most delightful story of 'Humph the Camel' during the Christmas season. It was a great success and 'Humph' was a transformed camel once he'd been into the stable and seen the baby!
Three Little Pigs
The children built houses for the little pigs to live in. Then the wolf came along, so we huffed and puffed ........ !
Ofsted Inspection
It was a great surprise to us all! Early one Thursday morning last term an unannounced OFSTED inspector arrived at 90 Woodstock Road.
Foundation Stage 'At Home'
Early in September, parents of children in the Nursery and Reception were invited to a talk about the Foundation Stage curriculum and how the six areas of learning are taught through play.
It Snowed!
Design Technology in Year 2
Year 2 have been investigating castles for their project this term. The design technology focused on winding mechanisms and we used this for the drawbridge in our own castles.
Year 5 - Bat Talk
On 24th January, Mr Endacott from the Oxfordshire Bat Conservation Trust came to talk to Year 5 as part of our project on conservation.
Year 5 Visit to Penhurst School
At the end of the Autumn Term, eighteen girls from Year 5 visited Penhurst School in Chipping Norton.
Chamber Choir
The Chamber Choir recently won their class at Oxford Music Festival and they were invited to take part in the Festival final concert on Saturday 7th February.
Year 4 visit the Neasden Mandir
Year 4 are looking at Hinduism and recently visited BAPS Shri Swaminarayan Mandir, London - popularly know as the Neasden Temple.
Year 4 Design Technology Workshop
On January 30th, Year 4 took part in a design technology workshop which looked at structure, specifically bridges. The girls enjoyed experimenting with different shapes using K'nex.
House Netball
We all went down to the Senior Department on a cold day and we played netball in our houses, Wyvern, Griffin, Yale and Unicorn separated into A and B teams.
Key Stage 1 "Chill Out at Christmas"
The spirit of Christmas was loudly and merrily invoked on Tuesday 9th December at 2.30pm when Key Stage 1 presented "Chill Out at Christmas" to a very proud and receptive audience of parents and friends.
Judo At Oxford High Junior School
Judo the Japanese Martial Art meaning "The Gentle Way" is an Olympic Sport practised by children and adults the world over and continues to grow in popularity year on year.
Party Time!
Before we finally shut the school for our Christmas break a Christmas Party was in order! The children and staff thoroughly enjoyed the festive spread, singing and dancing. The younger children also had a visit from Santa.
Christingle
As Year 1 processed with lighted Christingles, Year 4 talked of people who had been 'Leading Lights' of the world. A thoughtful final assembly of the term with a 'rainbow' dance, songs and prayers.
Year 5 visit to Gloucester Folk Museum 25th November 2008
We were curious as we were going to step back in time and experience the harsh 19th century education the children had to put up with. The teacher was EXTREMELY strict and we all felt small and insignificant.
Year 2 at the Roald Dahl Gallery
Crawling through Fantastic Mr Fox's tunnel, exploring the giant peach and travelling in the Great Glass Elevator were just some of the special treats enjoyed by Year 2 on their recent visit to the Roald Dahl Gallery at the Buckinghamshire County Museum in Aylesbury.

"The Animal Man" visited Year 2 at the Junior School...
"The Animal Man" visited Year 2 at the Junior School to complete a very informative and interesting topic on animals. Some of the animals the children saw and learned more about were Cuddles, the corn snake, Jerry the chinchilla and Incy Wincy the tarantula.
Pudsey Bear the Children in Need mascot, made an impact at the Junior School...
Thank you to everyone who brought raffle tickets in aid of Children in Need last week. A magnificent £535.00 was raised. The winners of the Pudsey Bear cakes were Megan Magrosky in 6H and Mabel Brown in 1O.
Junior School Open Morning
The Junior School threw open it's doors on Thursday 13th November and welcomed over a hundred visitors. They were escorted around the school by Year 6 girls and had the opportunity to drop into lessons and later meet staff over a cup of coffee.
Junior School wears it PINK in aid of the Breast Cancer Campaign
On Thursday 23rd October, The Junior School, usually a sea of blue turned various shades of pink as staff and pupils supported the Breast Cancer Campaign to improve diagnosis, treatment, prevention and cure of breast cancer. £330 was raised.
Year Six Trip to Lacock Abbey, 9th October 2008
The Year Six girls spent a day of creative writing and sketching at Lacock Abbey in Wiltshire. They imagined scenes from the lives of the medieval nuns, and the Fox Talbot family who lived there in Victorian times.

Time Travel in Year 3!
Time traveller Bertha visited the children in Year 3 to explain what life had been like as a Celt when the Romans invaded.
Year 4 Sulgrave Manor Visit
Year 4 enjoyed a day at Sulgrave Manor as part of their Tudor project. They experienced life in Tudor times by dressing up, listening to stories and taking part in role play about the Tudor monarchs.
Year 5 Oxford Museum Visit
Year 5 visited the Museum of Oxford as part of their Victorian project. They were shown articles from that era and compared lifestyles of a rich family from Norham Road and a poor family from Jericho.
Year 6 DT Workshop
As part of the Year 6 project this term the children participated in a D.T. Workshop on buggies.
