Facilities
Oxford High School is to be found at three locations, all within walking distance of one another, in leafy North Oxford. Children in the Nursery – Year 1 are at The Squirrel, Woodstock Road in a characterful Victorian building which emphasises the concept of family life, with an attractive playground at the rear, specialist Music and a purpose built Nursery. Years 2 – 6 are at Greycotes, Bardwell Road, again in an attractive Victorian building with more recent extensions and playground. There are specialist rooms for ICT, Science, DT, Art, Music, Library, Support, a Gymnasium and Hall.
We never claim to be beautiful and ivy clad (although we are ivy league!) at the Senior Department in Belbroughton Road, but we have space and we are extremely well resourced with a splendid indoor swimming pool, sports hall, The Mary Warnock School of Music, specialist facilities for Art, Textiles, Design Technology, numerous Laboratories, Sixth Form Centre, several ICT suites, Library, Careers Centre, Hall, Cafeteria and dedicated suites of rooms for all areas of the curriculum, including the new English Department. We have 10.5 acres of land and we make full use of the outdoor space for playing fields, tennis/netball courts and relaxation. There is considerable contact between the three locations to provide greater opportunities for liaison. Everyone, for example, from Year 2 upwards has access to the Senior Department pool. We work closely with the Trust to develop capital building programmes and refurbishment. The stewardship and vision of the Trust have always enabled the school to expand; the most imaginative project in recent years being the amalgamation of The Squirrel and Greycotes with OHS to create one seamless school.
