Facilities
Oxford High School can be found at three locations, all within walking distance of one another, in leafy North Oxford. Children inReception and Year 1 are at Woodstock Road, in a comfortable Victorian house which has been adapted and decorated to provide an ideal early years environment for learning indoors and out. Years 2 to 6 are at Bardwell Road, also in a Victorian house with more recent extensions and a playground. There are specialist rooms for ICT, Science, DT, Art, Music, Library, a Gymnasium and a Hall.
The Senior School has completed a major £9 million building programme. The Library opened in April 2010 and the remaining buildings opened in Autumn 2010. Our students and staff now enjoy a new Library, Dining Hall, School Hall, Drama Studio and classrooms, Lecture Theatre and Administration Centre. The new buildings were offi cially opened by Miriam Margolyes, CBE in March 2011.
At the Senior School in Belbroughton Road, we have space and are extremely well resourced with a splendid indoor swimming pool, sports hall, The Mary Warnock School of Music, specialist facilities for Art, Textiles, Design Technology, numerous laboratories, Sixth Form Centre, several ICT suites, Library, Careers Centre, Hall, Lecture Theatre, Drama Studio and dedicated suites of rooms for all areas of the curriculum.
We have 10.5 acres of land and we make full use of the outdoor space for playing fields, tennis/netball courts and relaxation. There is considerable contact between the three locations to provide greater opportunities for liaison. Everyone, for example, from Year 2 upwards has access to the swimming pool. The stewardship and vision of the GDST has always enabled the school to expand and enhance our facilities and provision.
